Pre-Order The Dark Knight on Blu Ray & DVD!

Now, I'm sure the question on all of your lips is.. "How on EARTH can Jamie follow up on something as dazzling and intense as that Wall.E pre-order post..?? Just.. how??" Well, happy day! Because check this.. I'ma 'bout to deliver yet another incredible pre-order post about...

THE DARK KNIGHT

Gaaaaaaasp!! Swooooooon!! Woooooowwzaaa!!

Now, we all know that Christopher Nolan completely rebooted and reinvented the Batman franchise with (the frankly incredible) Batman Begins. But sequels can be tricky - you need to up the ante, and up the threat, but you also need to develop the character a bit and move things forward.. they can be bloody tricky! So how did he fare..?

Yep, he completely knocked it out of the park! Christopher Nolan really is a genius in my eyes, and one of the hottest, most talented filmmakers working today. Both in terms of story and direction, he just seems to have a very good understanding of how things translate best to the screen. The Dark Knight not only maintains the same level of awesomeness as Batman Begins, but it also expands on the world and takes the franchise into some new and exciting places. To be honest it's really much more of an epic crime drama as opposed to a superhero movie, and the many comparisons to the film Heat are very valid - The Dark Knight is an incredible film!

Check out the trailer if you don't believe me:

Ok so here's the low down - The Dark Knight is out on the 8th December, and it has many great deals and goodies online if you pre-order. You're actually spoilt for choice this time around, so here's what you can get if you shop about:

Amazon

The Dark Knight 2 Disc Special Edition DVD - £11.98

The Dark Knight 2 Disc Special Edition DVD with Bat Mask - £17.98

The Dark Knight 2 Disc Special Edition Blu-Ray - £14.98

There's also a cool little Batman Begins/Dark Knight Double Pack available on both formats which I would highly recommend if you don't already own the first one. Check that out here.

Play

The Dark Knight 2 Disc Special Edition DVD - £11.99

This used to come with some 'limited edition art cards' but it seems like they've pulled those now. However it does come with 25% discount off Batman t-shirts and memorabilia when you buy the DVD.. quite interesting.

The Dark Knight 2 Disc Special Edition Blu-Ray - £14.99

HMV

The Dark Knight 2 Disc Special Edition DVD - £11.99

This comes with a comic book (for the win) I've just ordered mine from here.

The Dark Knight 2 Disc Special Edition Blu-Ray - £14.99

You can also win a signed poster with HMV - Check that out... HERE.

Other than that there's supposedly a special Blu-Ray Limited Edition Batpod version floating about, but I can't seem to find that online anywhere yet. Keep your eyes peeled if it sounds like your cup of tea, it looks kind of nifty!

vrooooom!!!!

And that's it for me Bat fans! Until next time.. Same Bat time, same bat channel!

Pre-Order Wall.E on Blu Ray & DVD!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the latest Pixar masterpiece is out on Blu-Ray and DVD... next Monday!

(That's the 24th November to you and me.)

And.. of course, the film I'm talking about iiiis.... WALL.E!

Waaaaaaaaaall.E

And so, to mark the occasion, I thought I'd trawl through the main internet retailers and find the best deals for y'all. As with all pre-orders though, it's not necessarily the best price we're after, but what free stuff and limited edition packaging comes with it!

I've actually decided to go Blu-Ray on this one, because frankly, the film is beautiful. If you've seen it already then you'll know - Pixar's animation team really pulled something special out the bag with this one, and it simply commands Blu-Ray!

As an interesting aside, it seems a lot more retailers and magazines are starting to promote Blu-Ray a bit more now. Empire even have their own (fairly substantial) section in their magazine now dedicated solely to Blu-Ray releases. It's a bit weird really, because most reviews are all old films that are just coming out again in the new format.. but ANYWAY.. I'm getting lost.. here's the deals...

Amazon
Boooooo!! Nothing from Amazon again on the 'special stuff' front. It seems that they never have any decent pre-order goodies, oh well..

Wall.E Blu-Ray
with nothing else - £16.98

Wall.E 2 Disc Special Edition DVD
with nothing else - £12.98

HMV
Wall.E Blu-Ray with exclusive art cards - £16.99

Wall.E 2 Disc Special Edition DVD with exclusive art cards - £12.99

Play.com
Wall.E Blu-Ray with nothing else - £16.99

Wall.E 2 Disc Special Edition DVD

with exclusive Play.com 'Activity Tin' (hmm)
- £17.99

Wall.E 2 Disc Special Edition DVD
with nothing else - £12.99

If I was going for the DVD I'd be seriously tempted with that Activity Tin (whatever the hell it is), but looks like the HMV Blu-Ray art cards are calling my name!

And now to finish - Pixar's forthcoming feature film UP looks very interesting indeed. I love the fact that they alsways seem to be doing something new and interesting. This particular film looks to be a grand old adventure! What do you think?
